My earthquake experience

O.M.G !!!! I am shaken by a powerful earthquake, buildings are falling and children are crying. We do not know what to do. All electricity is turned off and roads are closed. My whole family was at my aunty’s house, except for my Dad. My Dad was coming from work to my aunty’s house and I was at school.

If you didn’t know, I was at school in Christchurch when the earthquake struck this year.

At school all the children were crying and worried about their families . My dad came to pick me up. I asked him if our family was okay. He said “yes” so I was glad. Me and my dad walked to my aunty’s house (My school is close to my aunty’s house). As I got to my aunty’s house I saw my family and the neighbour hood standing outside. I ran up to my mum and said “are you okay?”, she said “yes”. The city continued to rattle. It was one of the scariest days of my life.Tristan Webb Tristan Webb stands in a large hole on River Road, Avonside on February 25, 2011 in Christchurch, New Zealand. The death toll has risen to 113 and the hope for finding survivors is fading as rescuers search through debris for over 200 still missing following a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Christchurch on Tuesday. The quake, which was an aftershock of a 7.1 magnitude quake that struck the South Island city on September 4, 2010, has seen damage and fatalities far exceeding those of the original.
